- INTRODUCTION -
For my Layout Design subject in my final semester at RMIT University,
I chose to create an music-focused community magazine called Soundscore.
My goal was to create a publication that was contemporary and editorial in style with a slight alt/grunge twist. To achieve this, I used ample negative space in my layout designs while utilising a six-column grid across all pages. I then included custom, hand-drawn visual elements and flourishes to promote a unique, collage-style, DIY-feel to the magazine.
Key references for style and layout inspiration came from the Australian street press magazines
beat magazine and PBS radio’s waves magazine.
